Letter C

Video
Today was a little different than Monday, as I decided it might be nice to incorporate some videos and music into the school day. I remembered ABC Mouse has some excellent videos about the letters. We jumped right in where we are with the letter C. Here's the video. It's a very catchy.

Sesame Street Letter Sounds Workbook
The assignment was to color the pictures of the items which started with the letter C. She was able to identify the pictures right away.

She did attempt to go crazy when coloring, but I gently encouraged her to take her time.

When she slowed down, she took the time to color each shape within the picture. I was surprised that she was showing such control. I wondered, however, if I might be doing her a disservice in reminding her to be careful and slow with her coloring.

We watched the video again.

Brain Quest Workbook
The first half of the book was going fine. We started by tracing noticing that uppercase and lowercase C look the same, unlike the letters A and B. I had TWP trace with her finger the letters. Next came coloring the cards with uppercase C. While she was coloring, I took out the laptop and started documenting what we had accomplished thus far. This is when things descended into chaos. All of a sudden, TWP didn't know the difference between blue and purple, Uppercase and lowercase C, and sitting and slouching. Being firm with her and letting her know what was the expectation for her seemed to do the trick. We moved on to coloring the lowercase C purple with ease.

I went back to YouTube for the video, and I noticed there was a video called Olive and the Rhyme Rescue Crew. I searched for the letter C video, and we watched this as an ending for our day. This video seemed a little under her current level, but she liked singing the song, and saying things out loud to help Olive and her friends.

NeuTab
Yesterday, the NeuTab came in from Amazon.com, and today was the first day we used it as a part of school. After the end of the school day, she was able to spend 30 minutes playing games from Thup and Intellijoy.
